Here's the thing about diets.

Diets work. They do.
People see results almost instantly.

But keeping off the weight and being healthy?
That's not a diet. That's a lifestyle change.

I might've participated in the Roller Derby Workout Challenge for about 8 weeks.
I say about 8 weeks, because it was more like, I participated seriously for about half that time, and for the rest went back to drinking beer and eating what I wanted to eat.

It wasn't time, yet, for me to get serious about this lifestyle change, because I didn't WANT to.
But now it's time to get serious.

I say it's to drop pounds for Rollercon, but it's not that.
While that's a great goal and so is this bikini:

..it's not my ultimate goal.
For my height, I need to be smaller. That's a fact.
I know I'm great, and I know I look good, but I need to be healthier.

So. Operation StopBeingAFatty is in full effect.

Today went like this:

(I slept through breakfast. oops.)

Lunch: Half a turkey sandwich, an apple, string cheese.
Snack: Spoonful of peanut butter, string cheese, an apple.
Dinner: Grilled tilapia, steamed broccoli, brown rice.
Snack: We'll see.

Plus water water water. We haven't had very hard practices lately because we're coming up on drafts really soon, so I haven't been sweating that much, and therefore, my brain thinks I don't need water? I don't know.

But with the additions of Land Practice, Outdoor skating and practices in the park with a possible Sock Derby...

I know I need to lose weight. It's imperative for my healthy and my performance in derby.

In other news... being a Committee Head and a member of the Board is fun, a little overwhelming, but fun, as a rookie.

...I wish I could be at drafts Tuesday :(

Never Shout Never - "Coffee & Cigarettes" LIVE!

Coffee and cigarettes are my only escape
I got my cup of Joe, my pack of stokes
And I'm on my way down town
To set up shop, and sing my cares away
So won't you sing with me
Cause it's cold outside, and I'm feeling kinda lonely

Friday nights are always the same in this town
I'm looking up, but I'm feeling kinda down
So I'll light this cigarette, and smoke the night away
And I'll hope that saturday will be the day
When everything feels okay

Ba da da da Ba da da da da
Ba da da da da da da da da

Coffee and cigarettes are best when shared with you
We'll go to Waffle House or your mom's house
And share a cup or two
Yeah I have friends, but they have friends
And they have parties and I'm so akward
So whatta you say, just as friends, we see a movie
This weekend, alright? -Okay

Friday nights are always the same in this town
I'm looking up but I'm feeling kinda down
So I'll light this cigarette, and smoke the night away
And I'll hope that saturday will be the day
When everything feels okay

Ba da da da Ba da da da da
Ba da da da da da da da da

[I'm trying to quit smoking.]

SOOOOOOOOO much to do!

Not only am I on the Board of Directors as a Skater Representative, but I'm also the new committee head of bout planning.

The only problem is that I've never played in a bout.
Sure, I've been to several, but I've never played in one, and I am concerned that with me, and a committee full of rookies, we might overlook the needs/wants of the players.

Moving on! In my new role, I'll be looking into making our bouts super fun and exciting. What kinds of things does your league do to make your fans feel welcome and appreciated? What kinds of games do you play before the bout or during halftime?

My Derby Big Sis said that it's all about creating an experience that makes people want more more more.
I agree with her, it's just hard to see what's not to love about a derby game, and I forget that non-derby folk DO need more...

Any thoughts?
