Bout Production

I don't know if anyone else knows this.. it might be a secret... but planning bouts is hard.

I don't care who you are.
It's hard.
And stressful (especially if you're skating in the bout you're planning...).
It involves long hours.
It involves hounding your committee (and everyone else in the league) for progress/information/to volunteer for NSOing/anything.
It involves contingency plans and thinking on your feet and wishing to the Roller Derby Gods that someone would volunteer for the Bout Production Day-Of MFIC (mufuckahincharge) job...

It involves failing and forgetting things and hoping you're not going to be punched in the face because you fail sometimes...

I know I'm not the only Bout Production kid out there who feels this way.

The season is dwindling down, and I am super glad.

But, as most derby girls are - I am a masochist, and yes, I will volunteer/run for this position next year.... because bouts are awesome.
Pulling off well-executed day-ofs is awesome.
Having the visiting team say that your league runs a great/smooth bout is awesome.

I think we get bogged down and we forget the awesome shit derby has to offer.

On that note, goodnight - I must sleep before the bout tomorrow.
